Florida’s young Republican Senator Marco Rubio gave an important speech at the Reagan Presidential Library in California that has set off the liberal talking head universe. He had the temerity to suggest that the huge growth in government’s role in American life over the last century “actually weakened us as a people.”

Rick Perry is brash, bold, and projects a thoroughly Texan ethos. By comparison, Pawlenty is a gentler, though earnest, Midwestern conservative. He hews so closely to the “Minnesota nice” stereotype that he looked visibly uncomfortable attacking Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann during GOP debates.

This was going to be a column insisting that Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida run for president of the United States. Now. Even though he has ruled out the possibility; even though he is but a baby senator. (Neither of these considerations has invariably stopped people in the past.)

Estonia happens to be in possession of oil shale. And while we have whittled away our time doing the environmental hokey pokey, dithering about where when how and why to develop resources all the while quaking in our boots over the fear that we would invoke the wrath of the Environmental Left, the country of Estonia got down to the business of making oil shale work.

Say The New York Post hired Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's daughter to denounce several U.S. legislators and a former U.S. President as "insane"-- but described this apparatchik for a terror-sponsor innocently as a "columnist" and "Teheran-based news analyst." Might the disclosure of her employment and pedigree merit media mention?

With everyone in Washington consumed by whether and how to increase our nation’s debt ceiling, the necessity for welfare reform seems oddly absent from the negotiations.

I’ve been active in national politics since Ronald Reagan’s great victory in 1980, and I can honestly say that I’ve never seen the TV pundits display the level of insanity and stupidity that we see today. Regrettably, this sentiment applies to the press on both sides of the political aisle.

Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid are the largest and fastest growing part of the federal budget. The U.S. government will never balance the budget without tackling entitlement programs head on.

One of Dictionary.com's definitions of blackmail is "to extort money from (a person) by use of threats." Substitute "taxpayers" for "person" and you have what the White House and congressional Democrats are doing with the debt ceiling.

Medicare fraud costs U.S. taxpayers an estimated $60 billion a year. One third of Medicare fraud prosecutions take place in south Florida. Six of the top ten Medicare-fraud fugitives from U.S. justice are thought to be hiding in Cuba.
