As a columnist, I have my own opinions on issues, and from the get-go I opposed expanded background checks for gun purchases because I viewed it as a slippery slope that could lead to more and more lists of honest Americans and more and more control by the government that would own those lists.

How ironic. Our first black President, Barack Obama, gets over 90% of the black vote in both elections but seems to run from black issues like he’s running from the plague. When was the last time he gave a policy speech on the breakdown of the black family?

Obama has been draping himself in families of the children murdered in Newtown.

If North Korea follows through on its threat to nuke the United States (or
had Russia in the '80s launched a nuclear attack), Takoma Park would not be
"nuclear free" for long, but the ordinance made some people feel as though
they were doing something constructive, something meaningful, about the
nuclear threat, and wasn't that their point?

Are you excited? Fresh off a two-week recess, Senators return to Washington tomorrow. Awaiting their return is the Leahy-Schumer-Reid gun tax.

Readers share their ideas. Since the massacre in December in Newtown, Conn., which left 20 children and six elementary-school staff members dead, readers have passed on a host of so-called remedies. Let's make gun owners be licensed and pass a test, some have suggested. So the problem is, I ask them, that these mass killers aren't good shots?

Stuart Stevens is the former chief strategist for the Romney campaign. He has just joined Tina Brown’s stable of reasonably presentable conservatives as a columnist at Ms. Brown’s The Daily Beast. I wish Stevens well—he’s a gifted writer and hails from my native state.

My latest book, "Dear Father, Dear Son," focuses on the importance
of fathers -- and the increasing number of children who grow up in homes
without one. Fox's Juan Williams understands this -- sort of. He gets the
"what," but not the "why."

A few weeks back we wrote a column about the issues being debated regarding potentially restricting the rights of gun owners established by the second amendment. The column was generally well received, but there was one point of contention that remains the center of debate regarding gun owners’ rights -- especially with the flaming out of Senator Feinstein’s bill on what she refers to as “assault weapons.” We need to correct this point and we discuss the issue in greater depth.

Currently, there are four things that are really ticking me off.

Some people should not be trusted with access to firearms. On that point almost everyone agrees, the only debate being where to draw the line.

One of the great ironies of the gun control debate is that everyone who calls for gun control still wants a man with a gun protecting him.

Adweek reporter Katy Bachman obviously doesn't know how silly she sounds. She recently passed along the intelligence that TV and movie industries would be "fulfilling a promise made to Vice President Joe Biden that they would be part of the solution to curb gun violence." They've taken the Newtown massacre to heart and toned down the violence of TV and movies?

Back in 2008, candidate Barack Obama went off his teleprompter and added a couple of sentences to the text of a speech about expanding the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps.

God and guns go hand-in-hand according to a Chicago-area pastor who hosted a Second Amendment Sunday in his church – that included a cake decorated with an edible chocolate Glock emblazoned with the phrase, “Blessed Are the Peacemakers.”

Last week on Hannity a “Democratic Strategist” named Zerlina Maxwell told Sean and his audience that guns are not the proper deterrent to dissuade rapists, but rather “teaching men not to rape is the key”. When I heard that chunk of stupidity I blew apple juice out of my nostrils -- and I haven’t had any apple juice in the last eight years.

According to CBS, St. Louis, Pastor Rodney Francis, of the Washington Tabernacle Baptist Church, wants to keep kiddos away from guns, so this summer his church is planning a “toy gun buy back” program.

Part of the fear-mongering campaign is to insult people that think independently of the hype and conventional wisdom. To that end, we hear about the devastation of global warming based largely on economic loss. Of course man is moving into areas where people never lived before and the replacement cost for structures is a lot higher.

Boy, the anti-gun goobers were out in full force this past week giving us plebeians the down low on what we “need” to protect ourselves during everything from home invasions to rape situations.

Somewhere a dentist is missing his laughing gas. Because the absolute hysteria of the American Left Intelligentsia on guns has now reached a new level of laughable.
