Lynette Shaw gestures outside the Federal building Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, in Oakland, Calif. Shaw, 15 year owner/operator of the now closed Marin Alliance for Medical Marijuana is asking for a protective injunction to halt the actions of the recent DOJ crackdown on medical cannabis dispensaries. Ms. Shaw is the lead plaintiff in a Federal lawsuit filed in all 4 District Courts against Eric Holder, the DEA and the DOJ, on behalf of California patients and their regulated collectives. Residents and local officials in Mendocino County, the redwood and weed-rich territory that occupies one leg of California's fabled Emerald Triangle, thought they had reached detente in the ongoing clash between pot growers and law enforcement when the sheriff agreed to stop raiding medical marijuana producers who paid to have their crops inspected and tagged. But under threat of legal action by federal officials, Mendocino lawmakers have abandoned the novel permitting program. The action has refocused attention on the far-reaching consequences of the coordinated crackdown on California's medical marijuana industry launched four months ago. (AP Photo/Ben Margot)
