For expressing the opinion of the majority of voters in the 31 states where gay marriage was put to vote Chick-fil-A’s President Dan Cathy is accused of “hate speech” by D.C. Mayor Vernon Gray. Such is the mayor’s revulsion that he threatens to mimic Lester Maddox circa 1962 and stand at his city gates wielding an ax handle to bar restaurant Chik-fil-A’s entry into his municipal domain.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel recently said of the Chick-fil-A fast-food franchise that "Chick-fil-A's values are not Chicago's values." Why? Because Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy is on record as being opposed to gay marriage -- as is close to half the U.S. population, according to polls. The mayors of Boston and San Francisco also suggested that the company isn't welcome in their cities.
Dan Cathy, President of Chick-fil-A, probably did not expect to be at the center of the storm of the gay marriage debate, but his company proved an unexpected financial beneficiary of the controversy
By now, anyone half-awake has heard about the Chick-fil-A controversy. What you may not have heard is that the survival of the Chick-fil-A company in the face of an all-out boycott campaign conducted by the allied forces of political correctness spells trouble for President Obama.
The mayors of Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. are publically threatening Chick-fil-A, telling them they are not welcome to expand in “their” cities because CEO Dan Cathy does not support same-sex marriage. Edwin Lee, mayor of San Francisco, even tweeted a threat: “Closest #ChickFilA to San Francisco is 40 miles away & I strongly recommend that they not try to come any closer.”
Writer Sinclair Lewis is credited with saying, “When fascism comes to America, it will come wrapped in the flag and waving a cross.”
Dan Cathy could have saved his company, Chick-Fil-A, a lot of trouble. All he had to do was keep his views about family to himself. Instead, he answered a question honestly. In a recent media interview, the company’s president and COO said what he believes and why he believes it. But his politically incorrect views are intolerable, judging from the anger of many on the left, including several big-city officials who are dead-set against his views.
Chick-fil-A President and COO Dan Cathy faces a consumer protest for expressing his opposition to same-sex marriage. Fair enough. Offended, the Democratic mayors of Boston, Chicago and San Francisco threatened to prevent the Georgia-based fast-food company from operating in their cities!
Mike Huckabee's “Support Chick-fil-A ” day propelled large turnouts for the restaurant across the country.
Each day brings new evidence of the Left’s hatred for Christians and other traditionalists, but the smear campaign against Christian-owned Chick-fil-A sets a new low.
This Wednesday, August 1st, I will be eating chicken. More precisely, I will be enjoying a meal at Chick-Fil-A, savoring every bite in support of the free speech rights of a principled, and successful, American businessman, Dan Cathy.
