Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel testified before the Armed Services Committee Wednesday during the first congressional hearing on the Bergdahl deal. Hagel claimed the extraordinary circumstances surrounding Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s release justified the Obama Administration’s rash actions.
The White House is not playing the blame game today. In a press conference Tuesday, Deputy White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest stated that ultimately, President Obama was responsible wholly for swapping five terrorists for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
According to U.S. intelligence, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intentions are crystal clear: he wants to restore the Soviet Union. That, at least, is what Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel had to say when asked about Putin’s “calculus.”
“Absolutely dangerous” and “just devastating” were the words used by former Vice President Dick Cheney to describe the Obama administration’s plans to make drastic cuts to the U.S. Army, which would scale back ground forces to its lowest point since World War II.
