As the current governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie is the first republican to win in one of their stateside elections in 12 years. A former attorney, he has made headlines with his direct style of tackling the New Jersey status quo of excessive taxation, opulent government pensions, and failing schools. Such gumption catapulted him to the national scene, where intense demand that he run for the White House soon followed. Christie chooses to decline on such demands for reasons personal to himself and his family. He has offered instead his endorsement for Gov. Mitt Rommey amongst the GOP presidential field, alongside his general support for the electoral defeat of President Barack Obama.
