The third definition of "patriot" in the Oxford English Dictionary is "A person actively opposing enemy forces occupying his or her country; a member of a resistance movement, a freedom fighter. Originally used of those who opposed and fought the British in the American War of Independence."

Candidates running for election who love to use fear mongering and scare tactics to persuade voters are usually hiding their incompetency. This election cycle is no exception, and it has never been more apparent than when it comes to debating the issue of Medicare.

Public figures’ records are fair game in political campaigns. It’s not “mudslinging” unless it’s untrue or employs “derogatory personal slurs” (Living Webster Dictionary).

Will the upcoming national conventions be snoozers, or will they actually offer some degree of excitement?

Congressman Allen West (R-Fla.) is being heavily criticized for comments alleging that certain Democratic members of Congress are communists, and he is not backing down. West dared to quantify his accusation, claiming there are “78 to 81” Congressional Democrats who are communists.

In politics, truth-telling can get you into trouble, even if you stumble upon it by accident. Just ask Rep. Allen West (R-FL).

Yes, this is about race and racism. But no, it’s not about the Trayvon Martin case and how the media is pimping it.

Can someone please explain to me why the Republican party of Florida allowed Congressman Allen West to be gerrymandered out of his congressional district?

Black History Month honors the achievements of African Americans throughout history and that is a good thing. Unfortunately, a reliance on family and faith, which allowed many African Americans to survive the horrors of Reconstruction, racial injustice and violent acts of discrimination, has become a casualty of the modern welfare state.

It’s hard to keep up with the rhetoric when a campaign has one set of lies to fool the public, one set of lies to fool reporters and one set of lies to fool themselves.

The election of 2010 brought many non-professional politicians to Washington, but none more noteworthy than Colonel Allen West (R-FL).

Occupy Wall Street is NO Tea Party! The masses of people collecting in New York City, across the country and world in the name of OWS look more like riots (reminiscent of the 1960s free love variety) than a movement. Participants in this “inchoate” movement as liberal and conservative media have described it, have trashed parks, attacked police, set cars ablaze and paraded around topless in the name of what?

We live in a democratic country called America where we are given unalienable rights, individual freedoms and liberties to live our lives the way we deem fit. Americans have the freedom to choose what they say, write, their religion and which political party or movement they support: Republican, Democrat, Independent, Tea Party, etc.

Do proposed cuts in federal programs threaten to deny the downtrodden any chance for “a meaningful and productive life,” as claimed by one of the most prominent progressives in Congress?

As someone who was born in the seventies in North Carolina and grew up admiring people like Muhammad Ali, Satchel Paige, and even Malcolm X (Yes, really) that was a pretty good example of the world I grew up in.

The tea party, according to Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, would "love to see us as second-class citizens" ... and "some of them in Congress right now with this tea party movement would love to see you and me ... hanging on a tree."

Now that the debt ceiling charade is over (for now) and the politicians have smugly retreated to their lavish homes and offices, the average American is faced with the stark reality. How are we going to get back to work to rebuild the wealth that was lost over the past few years?

This brings us back to Congressman West, who is a role model of clarity against the din of left-wing prevarications about saving mythical grannies from non-existent legislation. Democrats are accustomed to smearing Republicans when they’re out of the room; they’re not accustomed to Republicans defending themselves.

I don’t know how Debbie Wasserman Schultz was raised, but I had a younger brother that I was not allowed to hit. Of course I did anyway, on more than one occasion, so I was reprimanded and warned that “one day he’ll be bigger than you”.

Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), also Democratic National Committee chair, suggested that the nasty email she got from Congressman Allen West (R-FL), responding to her attack on him in the House, resulted from him being “under pressure.”
