The system cannot be repaired and Michelle Rhee, along with other progressives, know it. No matter how many smart boards or computers the result is mediocrity. Is it true that 39% of Chicago teachers don't send their own kids to public school? What about DC teachers?

It was a major story several years back.

Over half of students have left in the past two decades.

And only a small handful of their many schools meet (any) standards.

Michelle Rhee is a lifelong Democrat and education reformer who has recently come out in support of school vouchers. Writing in the Daily Beast a few days ago, she explained the prevailing reason for her change of heart: Her countless (and at times) heartbreaking interactions with devastated parents coping with the realization that their child would be stuck in a failing school -- forever.
