Medved, you just don't get it. You've obviously never been associated with guns in any way shape or form. The anti-gun lobby will just continue to chip away. What may seem like a reasonable response is just step 1 of many continually eroding the Second Amendment. This has been going on for far too long. Those of us who support the 2nd say, "Enough!" We will not give another dam quarter of an inch!! To do so will only further erode our rights.
No they can't. The Defense Dept. can simply order them to produce goods and wea pons required for "public defense". DOD takes manufacturing priority all the time - I've witnessed it personally.

Good Sense and Gun Control

So far as mental illness goes and trying to pick out who is dangerous with a gun, and who is not, perhaps this little study will narrow the search:  http://ssristories.com/index.php It shows a direct causal link between psychotropic drugs and mass murders.

Are Guns the Problem?

Kids are being overmedicated for depression with drugs like Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, etc. If you want to see a really strong connection between SSRI drugs and school shootings take a peak at this site: http://ssristories.com/index.php I guarantee you will be floored by the correlation. While I have no doubt Dr. Williams thesis is part of the problem, the connection between antidepressant drugs and school shootings is overwhelmingly demonstrable. This is essentially the same thing Savage has been harping about on his program for the past several years - kids are being overmedicated in and effort to control other behavioral problems. By the way, this site provides references for each shooting back to the original reporting.
That's a bunch of hooie, Joseph. There are two big problems with SS. First, the Feds spent the money on other programs. Money that I contributed for my old age seurity. Second, the Feds are giving SS payments to those who have never contributed, and likely never will contribute - aliens, children of a dead parent, spouses that never worked riding on the coat tails of the other spouse's earnings, and on and on.
Look very, very deeply at yourself Allie-babe. You just identified yourself, sweetheart.

Apple contracts with their manufacturing companies in China. They don't own them. So how does Apple have control of this situation beyond being able to exert some level of influence? You're barking up the wrong tree. Go take this up with the Chicoms.

I drove from the OR border down to Bakersfield and then over to AZ in Feb. I-5 was potholed on top of patches. It was so bad, I cut over to 99 which Hanson cited as bad, but it heads and shoulders above I-5. What do you expect for a state with some 545 different agencies all staffed with high paid bureaucrats, handsomely rewarded with outsized pensions. And, as Hanson points out, these people not only don't produce anything of value, they retard others who do produce goods and services.
