Conservatives should read Paul O'Neill's book 'Price of Loyalty,' George W. Bush's first Secretary of the Treasury. Only a year earlier, the government had been in surplus, but tax cuts, war, and a slowing economy had turned the surplus into deficit. O'Neill warned that consequences of failing to raise the debt ceiling "are too serious to contemplate."

Republicans in 2012 want to give cover to their own lack of fiscal conservatism often say Bubba Clinton had no surpluses. I'll take the liberty to respond with, the Republican Party, itself, admitted to those Clinton surpluses! http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/election/july-dec00/platform2.html "REPUBLICAN PLATFORM 2000-July 31, 2000 - In the first part of the Republican national platform, the party outlines its economic goals." George W. Bush talked about those very surpluses in the link above.
Hey republicans here's a little math for you. Bill Clinton raised taxes on the rich from 31% to 39.6% and had budget surpluses in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. George Bush cut taxes on the rich in 2001 and had budget deficits from 2002 to 2009 and doubled the Federal Debt from 5.7 trillion to 10.7 trillion and left the next President (OBAMA) with a GREAT RECESSION, the worst recession since the GREAT DEPRESSION IN 1929.
When Jesus said, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God"; is this an example of class warfare?
Bush diddled and daddled in Iraq for a longer amount of time than it took for America to win all of WWII....WHILE THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS DIED IN IRAQ.

Republicans must love that 200,000 returning veterans of the Republican social engineering experiment in Iraq will need vast amounts of government run health care.
