Okay - I'm truly sorry I opened a thread of communication that may become vitriolic. If someone had labeled themselves an "open-minded conservative" I may have made the same comment. Anytime we label ourselves, we imply - however subtly - that we're not overly receptive to opposing points of view. I was just amused. There are stubborn people on both sides of this fence, but of my acquaintances, those who call themselves liberal tend to be more vocal and strident, and one in particular, very angry if I don't agree with every point he makes. But once more to OpenMindedLiberal - you told me your size, your color, your sexual orientation and your philosophical "bent". You told me nothing about what kind of person you are.
Sorry - I have so many friends and a sister-in-law who are/is liberal, and I have yet to be able to get in a single word. Thus my reaction to your handle. 2) Well - let me rephrase because I am over-generalizing. It is rare that I get in more than a word or two before those of my acquaintance become shrill and near-hysterical. It is more true to say that I've rarely been able to finish a sentence.
Sorry - I have so many friends and a sister-in-law who are/is liberal, and I have yet to be able to get in a single word. Thus my reaction to your handle.
OpenMindedLiberal? Now there's an oxymoron.
