Unfortunately there are some states that run lock-step with party affiliation. If a presidential candidate came in and told these people that the first thing he would do when elected would be to come back to their states and had half of them beheaded and made good on that promise, they would continue to vote for him anyway because they can't think for themselves and are virtually lost when it comes to truth and reason.
