West lost his election for the same reason Romney did: he underestimated how little the right-wing extremist rhetoric would appeal to the voters he needed to carry. Just look at demographics. The Republican Party can no longer demonize millions of people and get away with it. I'm happy that they are finally being called by the voters on rhetoric that has offended and marginalized certain groups for far too long.
