In response to:

This Great America

That column is why conservatives will never understand liberals. The young reporter asked a question that was positive, and not in any way meant to denigrate his conservative brethren, and Ransom responded with basically, "you don't understand because you liberals aren't real, patriotic Americans." It's hard to believe that this is the romanticized view of reality that conservatives cling to. And you'll notice that the Vietnam war was conveniently left out. As if this "entitlement generation" had nothing serious to do. Many would argue that those anti-war protestors changed American policy, and saved lives, not to mention those who actually fought. The right-wing media continues to set up straw men and knock them down--powerful stuff...

The Vietnam war was indeed left out, and you should be grateful for that, for it was Democrats who got us into it, escalated it, and mismanaged it to the point that politics dictated a defeat before our military could dictate the victory. Those anti-war protesters - mostly chickenshits, dopers and fags - have cost many, many more American lives than they ever saved. And those very same assholes are doing it again today, only from boardrooms and editorial offices.

there is nothing difficult in understanding leftists...if they believe in something, you KNOW it's either morally wrong, logically flawed and will only destroy or steal what's been created by others. it's no secret that the left are the epitome of intolerance and hatred of the individual.

Wtmoore1, I am a Vietnam Vet and Ransom has it right. Secondly, the "right " wing media you talk about is a complete figment of your imagination. The Internet ( the greatest invention since the wheel, thanks to Alvin Gore, puuucck) has been the greatest thing to happen to this free country. No longer do we totally depend on the newsprint or CBS, NBC, or ABC for our news. We now have a choice with cable TV, the Internet, etc. What a great addition to our choices this has been and it has forced the "leftist" media to be a little more "fair & balanced" in their reporting. Their is hope for this very important part of our freedom - THE MEDIA!!!!

Mr. Ransom speaks generally about the profound differences between the two generations. Most reasonable people understand that no generation is ever an ideological monolith.
I find it perplexing that that you seem to be crediting the anti-war liberals with “saving lives”. Apparently the number of lives supposedly saved by protesters uses a method that just disregards the 2.5+ million Cambodian men, women and children that were savagely slaughtered by Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge BECAUSE they were defenseless, once our forces bugged out of the theater.

Torr, I have admired your posts for many months now. You consistently drive home the point that there is always a logical, well thought out argument to all the bumper sticker arguments and sad sick twisted philosophies of the socialists. Thank you for your clear, concise arguments.

I am impressed that your typing skills are so good, since it must be difficult to see through the haze of cannabis smoke in which you live.

The choice that we face today is between freedoms on the one hand, and ruin on the other.

There has never been a generation in our history that has been given more than the generation which was born between 1945 and 1960.

They were given so much by their hard and hardy parents, who by fighting through a real economic depression and a great world war, helped bolster freedom for the free and bequeathed freedom to millions of others who lived in the twilight of tyranny.

I call these sons and daughters of what we know as the Greatest...
