Much of Genesis from the old testament is allagory. Most every religion has a creation story. The problem arises when you look out the window and see the product of that creation, it has to be consistant with the creation narrative or you have reason to question that narrative. There is overwhelming evidence to question the biblical creation story and the more we learn about the earth and the creatures on it, the more convincing that evidence is! For an educated legislator to respond to a question about age of the earth with I have no idea, I am not a scientist, is absurdnon the face of it. I would not expect an a precise answer as no one knows for certain. After all creation is a process not a singular event,
