Our mailman smelled gas in our yard and we found we has a gas leak. Another mailman I know checked on an elderly ladies furnace and since she was in a wheelchair suggested she have a ramp built so she could get out of the house quickly in case of fire. She had one built and her out of state daughter thanked him for looking out for her. He went to the funeral home when she died. They do have good pay and benefits but then they walk 8 miles a day in blazing heat, freezing cold and pouring rain. They have back and knee problems. Would a private company deliver a letter by plane to a remote area for a reasonable price? I think not. Maybe in a generation the USPS will be gone but right now not everyone wants to do financial transactions

on line. What if a EMP was detonated oveer the US. Not having hard copies of transactions could pose a problem for some people. Eliminating Saturday deliveries will not kill anyone but you better think about what you ask for. They again maybe we could eliminate YOUR job.

It's happening, the Postal Service will end Saturday mail delivery as early as August 2013. Packages however will continue to be delivered on the weekend. More from Fox News:
