Forbes has a list of all the billionaires in the entire world. If you add up their net worth, it only comes out to around $4.5 trillion dollars. It includes many billionaires who do not live in the U.S., and are not U.S. citizens. The U.S. doesn't have the authority to tax them. Somehow the government and the media have led people to believe that taxing the rich will solve the problem. Our broke state recently increased the income tax substantially with the promise that it would solve the state's financial problems. It was lie. The state is in worse shape than ever. How many times are people going to fall for the same lie? The government spends the money. They don't fix the problems. They are like heroin addicts.

The update on the status of a fiscal cliff deal is that there really is no update but, Speaker John Boehner and President Barack Obama did meet over the weekend to at least talk about their differences in the matter.

Both the White House and Boehner’s office declined to describe the meeting, putting out identical statements that said, “This afternoon, the President and Speaker Boehner met at the White House to discuss efforts to resolve the fiscal cliff. We’re not reading out details of the conversation, but the lines of communication remain open.”
