1. Close the borders. 2. Implement eVerify fully- with penalties for managers / owners of scofflaw businesses. 3. Implement an immigration policy to allow educated professionals to enter LEGALLY. Especially young folks who might do us the favor of having babies to replace us Boomers. 4. Allow innocent children of illegals who have graduated from high school (at least) to stay if they demonstrate they can support themselves, or will enter our armed forces. But ensure none of these "dreamers" are allowed to become "anchors" for other family members who do not qualify under step 3 above. 5. Send all remaining illegals HOME, if they do not qualify under 3 or 4 above. Should take about 2 years.

You have invoked LOGIC...the only valid point in this column is that there IS NO LOGIC in how we deal with ILLEGALS.

Nothing about illegal immigration quite adds up.

Conservative corporate employers still support the idea of imported, cheap, non-union labor -- in a strange alliance with liberal activists who want the larger blocs of Latino voters that eventually follow massive influxes from Latin America.

Yet how conservative are businesses that in the past flouted federal law -- and how liberal are activists who undermined the bargaining power of American minimum-wage, entry-level workers, many of them minorities?

The remedies for illegal immigration under discussion are just as incoherent. If the government now plans to offer some foreign nationals a pathway to citizenship, does...
