Before We Give Up, Could We At Least Try Selling Our Ideas?

Who has ever said that Hispanic immigrants are lazy? I missed that fax. We all know they're hard working. That's why they came here to start with, legal as well as illegal. Our problem is with the ILLEGAL immigrants. I don't know about you, but when I do something that is ILLEGAL, they slap my behind in jail. There are procedures for them to come here legally. Why can't they do that? A lot do, and they're all welcome. Or do you disagree with the laws? Well, y'all are in charge now. Change them through legislative action. Obama doesn't want to do that. He has issued illegal executive orders for laws not to be enforced.

Politicians, both republican and democrat, keep talking about a "Path to Citizenship" for them. Have you ever actually TALKED to any of our Mexican friends? My buddy, Enrique (who has shown me his green card (which is actually pink)), says they don't want to be citizens. They can work here for 5 years, and save enough money to go home and live like kings for the rest of their lives.

When you change those immigration laws, remember that if you extend amnesty to the current residents, then their value to their employers goes to ZERO. People employ illegal immigrants because they're easily exploited, and employment laws are not followed. A new wave of illegal immigrants will follow any amnesty, and the current illegal immigrants will all have to go on public assistance.
We conservatives may never reach a consensus among ourselves as to the main factors that caused our election defeat, but surely we can agree that we must do a better job of selling our ideas.

Never mind, you say. The electorate has irreversibly become a taker class, and conservative ideas of self-reliance, personal responsibility and individual liberties will never appeal to a majority again, especially with demographics working against the GOP.

We must reject that, or we are as good as surrendering. To accept it, we are confessing our skepticism of the power of ideas, which itself is contrary to the conservative spirit.
