The trouble is that the most hawklike and interventionist are the middle-aged, overweight neocons who want to strut around wrapped in the flag while playing the modern equivalent of Roman pro-consuls. Enough already. The treasure we have wasted in the last two decades is needed at home to rebuild our infrastructure and modernize our economy. Let other countries' young men and women get their butts shot off in some of these trouble spots - the time is long overdue.
