Shumer is a partisan jack A$$. Part of the Act is a good idea which I have advocated for years. The donor list should be published before the money is spent. That in no way infringes on the 1st amendment. I do not care if Ted Turner gives Mr. Obama a billion dollars to be reelected as long as we know about it.

I think anyone should be able to donate any amount they choose as long as their name is disclosed as a donor and the amount they donated. Foreign donations should be banned period. No one should be able to go overseas, raise money, then come back to the states and make a supposed donation in their name. Lies and misinformation in campaign ads should be treated like any other lies and misinformation. Hold the liar accountable.

I believe there ought to be limits because the First Amendment is not absolute. No amendment is absolute. You can’t scream ‘fire’ falsely in a crowded theater. We have libel laws. We have anti-pornography laws. All of those are limits on the First Amendment. Well, what could be more important than the wellspring of our democracy? And certain limits...
