Maybe, because she was Jewish was the reason that she honors them by having the tattoo. As to how many Russians, we would have to separate out the ones who dies from the war and the ones who Stalin murdered and counted as "war" dead. As to the Chinese, we would have to separate out the ones from the Chinese civil war that was ongoing with the war with the Japanese. With the Poles, I agree, but how do we count the ones that dies, only the ones who Russians killed or the ones who the Germans killed??? Yes, Gypsies, homosexuals, Jews, Poles, Slavs, ... were all targeted along with many others, but we only have a hard documentation that all countries hated the Jews and few stepped in to help them. Roosevelt had a ship turned away at New York that had many Jews on board that were trying to escape from Europe, but who hears about that? The gypsies and Slavs had places to run and the Jews were betrayed by all, that is why we remember them, because of the world-wide guilt.

Doesn't matter how his first name is spelled, he was a deserter, and AWOL, yet the President welcomed him back with open arms. He let his platoon, company and battalion members down by going AWOL and we lost troops trying to find this dirtball. Keep you eyes focused on the issue here, misspelling is not the issue.
Wow, what an uninformed point. The Republicans are not trying to suppress the vote, they are trying to ensure that people are voting legally. If you want to see who is trying to ensure illegal votes happen, that the dead arise to vote, and that if you are an illegal citizen of the community, county , or voting district then look no farther than the Democratic party. I know you will not research this but I try to help people see what is out there. Check the voting records for Baltimore county Maryland in the election for Governor 1994. The 1994 election for governor of Maryland was between Ellen Sauerbrey and Parris Glendening. Voter fraud charges lawsuit? Dead people voting, prisoners and out of state people voting? The 1994 election was in doubt as charges of voter fraud led to a lawsuit by the Sauerbrey campaign to overturn the election, which was ultimately unsuccessful (hardly a big surprise in a Democrat-controlled state). And let's not forget the ridiculousness of the redistricting proposal to rid Maryland of one of the last two GOP congressmen in the state. So please check your facts before you cast lies into the winds.

Let me ask a few things here. Since you believe in abortion, then thank your lucky stars that your mother did not abort you. And if you are that lucky then think about all of the others who were and are not as lucky, who are we to be determining if they live or die? Are you like the early eugenics people who only want certain people around? If you identify with them then you must identify with the Nazi's because that is what they were doing. They were moving to the point of if you did not meet certain requirements then you would be aborted. Is that what you believe in, if so, I feel sorry for your soul.

Giving your words back to you, " the "Ukrainian spring" of mob violence to topple dictatorial, yet stable, Arab leaders in Northern Africa (even if he was corrupt and dictatorial, not unlike what we have now in Washington) was an act of provocation--not appeasement. And not unlike the "Arab spring's" chaotic aftermath, the vacuum has been filled with extremist, anti-Semitic (That's right, JB168, anti-US, anti-Christians) are now part of the new "legitimate, democratic" governments in Egypt and Libya, also allied with the differing factions of Islamic terrorists (to include Al-Qadia). And Mr. Mubarak, wasn't he our staunch ally and a supporter of Israel, and Mr. Ghadaffi, while erratic, he was willing to work with the US and Westerners, unlike the ruling factions now in Egypt and Libya. JB168, your creative writing gift can turn dangerous in the service of knee-jerk, misplaced anachconistic anti-(fill in the blank) propaganda. Try starting with the facts, not cherry picked factoids..

Wow, Paolo3, hypocrisy, really, supporting the "Russian" side of the story, while not understanding the true history of the area. occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, really, that was why we had elections there in 2004, 2005, 2006... and we left Iraq in 2011 when we were supposed to. I seem to remember that Russia occupied Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldava, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, parts of Finland since WWII but no hypocrisy there right Paolo3!!! True, we need to get out of Afghanistan, and the sooner the better, but then again Russia did that first, as the USSR nad they left after ten years. The Ukraine disappeared after the Russians annexed the Crimean Khanate in 1783, the region called New Russia was settled by Ukrainian and Russian migrants. Despite the promises of Ukrainian autonomy given by the Treaty of Pereyaslav, the Ukrainian elite and the Cossacks never received the freedoms and the autonomy they were expecting from Imperial Russia. However, within the Empire, Ukrainians rose to the highest Russian state and church offices. At a later period, tsarists established a policy of Russification of Ukrainian lands, suppressing the use of the Ukrainian language in print, and in public.
