He'll do better next time around, but it's still not going to be easy, and he'll probably lose. He's got the experience of campaigning under his belt. He'll have some gray in his hair. His downfall is the lack of an Anglo-Saxon surname (take a look at the list of Presidents - except for the Messiah) and his inability to articulate his vision for the country so that it moves people.
