The Republicans' Primary Problem

"...the GWBush years were also years in the wilderness..." This is liberal garbage. Under GWBush the economy recovered from a recession and grew to its greatest level of prosperity ever. Revenues to the Treasury reached their greatest levels ever and have stayed 11% higher than the previous best even during the ensuing recession. Under Bush we responded effectively to 9/11. Follow-up attacks were prevented. We won the war in Iraq and neutralized tens of thousands of terrorists. We were also winning in Afghanistan before Bush handed the keys over to Obama. Also, during the GWBush years, there were NO ATTACKS on US Embassies overseas, unlike with both Clinton (before Bush) and Obama (after Bush). (Cont'd as a Reply)

The economy continued to grow until 2006 when the Democrats took over Congress. That was the turning point and we went down hill ever since.

Another thing that happens when liberals get their way is that guys like "GWBush" get blamed for things they had nothing to do with causing and actually tried (unsuccessfully) to prevent. Liberals call this "social justice".

Having just lost an election, many Republicans are anxious to remake our party in the image of Democrats. The theory seems to be that whatever we're doing isn't working, so we better change everything.

But in fact, whatever Republicans did in 2012 -- other than an overly long primary fight -- worked amazingly well, given the circumstances.

In a detailed analysis of the 2012 election, William A. Galston, a fellow with the liberal Brookings Institution, makes a number of fascinating observations that Republicans would do well to consider before embracing amnesty, abortion, gay marriage and Beyonce.
