Warm air doesn't rise into space for the same reason Frank568 doesn't float off into space (despite how light his head must be). Gravity holds it down. The only reason warm air rises is because it is not as dense as cold air. Gravity pulls the denser cold air down and it displaces the warm air in the process, causing the warm air to rise. When this happens too quickly we can get a tornado or a hurricane. And Oldschool7, you are dead wrong. Warm air does NOT rise all by itself. Just because you aren't lifting it personally that doesn't mean some other natural force isn't lifting it
