When AIG got bailed out it was because a law written by a Democrat-controlled Congress REQUIRED it. Chris Dodd added an amendment, in committee, that was never voted on separately by the full House or the full Senate, that made taxpayers liable to bail out insurers like AIG that were stupid and irresponsible and therefore needed to be bailed out. If Bush had refused to bail out insurer AIG the left would have accused him of violating federal law, "shredding the Constitution", and conducting an imperial Presidency. AIG got bailed out because the DEMOCRATS made it the law.

E3 You sem to fail to realize that we've hit the wall. The U.S. has never been $16 trillion in debt before. What was can no longer be. If we had full employment maybe we could afford more, but under Obama's policies it's not likly that will ever happen. If he was REALLY concerned about jobs and the ecomony there is much he could do to help.
Mitt Romney sure ruffled a lot of feathers over his proposal to eliminate taxpayer funding for government-sponsored TV. As soon as the GOP presidential candidate singled out PBS for cuts during the presidential debate in Denver, the hysterical squawking commenced.

Left-leaning celebrities immediately erupted on Twitter. "WOW!!! No PBS!! WTF how about cutting congress's stuff leave big bird alone," Whoopi Goldberg fumed.
