I've read the " thousand years  institution of marriage" evolved from the early Roman Christian church edict that was actually designed to enrich & propagate the church.  Not a divine  order from on high.    Many much earlier biblical stories however, suggest multiple wives & concubines  were also favored/sanctioned by God.  What gives here?

...Where  would you/I  be if  old "social standards"  still remained and our constitution had not been "re-engineered".   Excluding the Emancipation Proclamation, civil, voting & women's rights  from the popular  sovereignty of the voting process,  was the right thing to do.   But gay rights are different & deserves neither one man/one vote or federal legislative action?  You are kidding, right?

Starr,  I love reading a black conservative take on issues.  My hope is to understand  other  perspectives.   But..."impulses of the moment"?    You are fortunate  that the Constitution was amended to include the whole you in this democracy experience.    You're  no longer politically  considered 3/5 of a person.  Owning land & being a white male no longer determines our right to vote. All due to  "momentary impulses".  Not sure the  Constitution (or the Declaration of Independence)   says much  about marriage, gay or otherwise.     In one breath you champion Lincoln's position about "core truth" preceding the democratic process.   Then you rail against deviating from  " social standards".   What?  

Nah. Just dumb clucks looking for cheap, crappy merchandise that breaks, malfunctions, disintegrates, fades, shrinks, unravels in less than 6 mos. Thats what Walnart Black Friday gets you. Nothing racists about that.

You're so busy hating, your world must be a small & scary one.  You have made your party repulsive & exclusive:  Whites need only apply.   A slick brand  "new" membership drive to recruit the " others" won't work.  Trying harder to make  " others" see the light wont work.  No one wants to co-sign on to a dying party living in the past....a sure sign of a delusional  & distorted reality.    Umm...what's that classification again?  Certifiably deranged? There has to be a psychiatric classification for far right, conservative Republicans & their base.  You  INSIST you are the arbiters of what is good for all.   You  double down on forcing your religious, social & political  ideology on folks who clearly, overwhelming rejected your party  positions.  A more strident,  compassionate conservative party won't fix what's wrong with you guys.    You've clearly demonstrated you are the party of hate.  The venom & vitriol is there... live... prime time & in color.  You hate Liberals, progressives, Blacks, Latinos, women, gays, intellectuals, the media, foreigners, non-Christians and any other " other".  Thats over half the planet.   How that "clinging to guns & god" workin for ya?

Who are you to tell Clyburn whats good for him?  The sad commentary is that whites bolted the democrat party ( Dixiecrats) when the 1964-65 Civil Rights/Voting Right Act was championed by the Democrats.    Historically most blacks were Republicans (the party of Lincoln).  1964-65 changed all that.  President Johnson predicted losing the south back then.  He was right.  You guys are still fighting the civil war.     The 2008 & 2012 campaigns proved that  little has changed for many Rebublicans/Dixiecrats.  No reason for blacks/minorities to ever consider your party again.  

And if I am correct BUSH 41 was a CIA director. Covert CIA operations plays a critical role in their War on Terror. Repubs will stop at nothing in their "War on Obama".

Don't know much about foreign affairs. Read somewhere weeks ago that Bengazzi was a major CIA Operation. That the majority of those rescued/survived were CIA staff. If so...why would we expect much info. I understand the hurried hearing held by Repubs had to be immediately suspended when Republicans persisted on reviewing/showing top secret info & photos . This public hearing supposedly could have put at risk hundreds of embassy workers and US covert uperations. What exactly are Republicans gunning for here? Strange that these folks seem intent on "outing" every damn foreign CIA operative & initiative just to get Obama? Sounds treasonous to me.

Now see...that is the problem. You've launched a racially biased salvo at constituents your party needs to attract.  Still holding fast to code words like "typical" American...Anti-white power groups....Special privileges at the expense of white  people.   You  see minorities as " them against us"    What the party needs is sane, rational forward thinkers who truly see an inclusive America.    Your party will continue to lose unless it can accept those Americans who "look" different from you. It  isn't about a black/Hispanic power trip.  Minorities have always voted for all sorts of white candidates.  It's about a party of people refusing to let go of racial biases  even when it's destroying their party.
