Delight and Worry about Egypt

Good article, but I don't foresee war with Israel. It would be suicidal. The Egyptian military knows they can't win and they are not looking to lose prestige with a loss in a disastrous war that they started.

With Obama giving Egypt F16s and any other military supplies they want Egypt's military will think they can win against Israel and Ethiopia at the same time.
Eventually the people will have full access to the information they need to decide how best to govern themselves, but then they must learn what works and what doesn't and that will take a couple more generations.
Our government will take money from us and give it to the wrong people in Egypt effectively increasing the length of the peoples learning curve.

In fact, I see the seeds of democracy -- or, some Islamic version of it. The people overthrew Mubarek and now Morsi. The largest demonstrations in history deposed Morsi.

Perhaps, the people, having tasted the power they can wield, will insist on a form of government that has more freedom and opportunity.

I think a country where the the rich get richer and the poor get children will no longer be tolerated.

We'll see.

Any country into which you send aid you produce more of both.
