By 9/21/2013 I hope the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) will have stopped putting up roadblocks and will have tested my DNA against three sets of unidentified remains I have steered them to as possibly being those of my uncle who was shot down over New Guinea on July 26, 1942. They "found" his plane's wreckage two years ago based on information I gave them, but have so far been unable to justify exhuming and testing the remains. "Until they are home"

Today is National POW/MIA Recognition Day, the annual observance of the more than 83,000 Americans who are still missing in action. The numbers according to the DoD:

WWII: 73,681

Korean War: 7,946

Cold War: 126

Vietnam War: 1,655

Iraq & Other Conflicts: 6

Total: 83,414

You are not forgotten.
