If Christie runs for President in 2016 he most likely WILL be nominated, just as moderates are usually nomiated in the end, because he's the pragmatic choice, just as Mitt Romney was nominated instead of such "conservatives" as the demented Michelle Bacmann or Herman Cain or Rick Santorum. This website we are on will even IMPLORE you to go out and vote for Christie because "he is better than Hillary" -- who will surely get the nomination on her side if she chooses to run. And all of you conservative posters will fret that a "real" conservative was again not nominated but will admit to voting for Christie because "he is better than Hillary". And so it goes, like a circle you cannot break out of.
Thank you, Nancy Reagan for supporting marriage equality. This is a family that lived and worked in Hollywood. They had numerous gay friends. They had 2 aunts (an aunt and her life partner) who babysat the children -- and the Reagans considered them family. How can Michael Reagan (who was often babysat by the lesbian couple) now equate gay marriage to marrying animals and incest? I wish Nancy would disavow this adopted son.

Yes! Nancy Reagan supports marriage equality! And New Zealand just legalized gay marriage last night.

I saw this headline: Westboro Baptist Church to picket funerals of those slain at the Boston Marathon and, of course. I thought of some of the Tonwhall social cons. The Westboro congregation is almost all about homosexuality in the US when they picket. This "permisiveness" troubles God. You guys here can join them with your "Marriage is between one man and one woman" signs and get media coverage for you views. Every time I hear or see the Westboro Baptist Church's name, I think of some of the nuttier social cons here.

I prefer the more freethinking congregations, they tend to be the most open to gay unions. These were the congregations (like the Quakers) who were against slavery, even near the beginning of the 1700s. I'm struck by how many American thinkers like Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson and Ralph Waldo Emerson believed in a God ("Providence") though not in the divinity of Christ. I suppose this is the doctrine of Deism which is against revealed religions (Moses, Jesus, Mohammed). Our country's beginning are rife with religious dissenters and splinter groups. The only thing they seemed to have in common is an anti-Catholism and anti-Papalism, which is a vestige of Martin Luther and the Reformation.

Really, Dread, do you always have to write like you're trailer trash and without an education? Can't you class it up ever? Who could dare take you out to a nice restaurant when you act like this?

There are plenty of churches that teach that homosexuality is not a sin. The Episcopal Church is an example. They ordained a gay bishop. They give their blessing to gay unions. In the 19th century divorce was the big issue. Was divorce really sinful? Jesus does say that any man who divorces and marries another is an adulterer. Ronald Reagan would be an adulterer according to Jesus' words. Most churches no longer preach that divorced persons in the congregation are adulterers. Homosexuals will become the new divorced people and churches will not focus on those scriptures. Just as we don't focus on the polygamy in the Bible.

I hope Pat Robertson doesn't say that God allowed this to happen because of society's acceptance of gay marriage

I am not convinced that a Creator God who supposedly created Man also created the sea cucumber and sea pig. And wasps. And potato bugs. Evolution seems much more plausible.

New Zealand has the final vote and will be legalizing gay marriage on Wednesday. Uruguay was last week. And Ireland is starting their process now. The times, they are a-changin'.
