I wish I could photosynthesize sunlight, converting it to energy, making my own food as plants do. However, I can't create my own energy from light, so I'm off to El Pollo Loco to eat the flesh from another animal -- on animal eating another -- and get my energy that way.
(today's news) 2nd Child of Pa. Couple Dies After Only Praying A couple serving probation for the 2009 death of their toddler after they turned to prayer instead of a doctor could face new charges now that another son has died. Herbert and Catherine Schaible belong to a fundamentalist Christian church that believes in faith healing. They lost their 8-month-old son, Brandon, last week after he suffered from diarrhea and breathing problems for at least a week, and stopped eating. Four years ago, another son died from bacterial pneumonia.
ÉGALITÉ! France just made a final vote approving marriage equality Soon, only Russia, Islamic countries, and socially conservative (RED) American states will ban gay marriage.
Let's see if I have this right. Both animal and plant life evolved from bacteria. Plants specifically evolved from cyanobacteria, single cells that are aquatic and make thier own food through photosynthesis. Ancient cyanobacteria are responsible for oxygenating the earth -- what wikipedia calls the "Great Oxygenation Event" -- and set the stage for animal life. So, you see, all living things, animal and vegetable, are intimately connected. Not only are plants and animals deeply related, but also rocks. Since all elements on the Periodic Table (with the exception of hydrogen and helium) were formed and in some cases fused in the hot interior of stars, the non-living world is directly responsible for life.
An amendment to my earlier post: not only are plants and animals deeply related, but also rocks. Since all elements on the Periodic Table (with the exception of hydrogen and helium) were formed and in some cases fused in the hot interior of stars, the non-living world is directly responsible for life. Rocks, plants, animals >>> all connected. You are a connected part of this universe. And you'll return to it after death (as non-living atoms, of course).

The former republican Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) is asking the Senate Panel to recognize gay people in the new Immigration bill. He cited his "future husband". Thought you all should know.

I will never understand the logistics of fitting a million and a half animals and their mates onto an Ark. Do polar bears get their own cublicle? There are said to be 3,000 varieties of frogs and 1,700 types of snakes. Is there something similar to a dinner seating arrangement as to which animals go in which stalls to avoid animosity? (Panthers should not be placed next to rabbits). Where do the aquatic animals who live in freshwater go? Questions, questions.

So what's the official conservative line now? No background checks under any conditions? But, oh, yes, violence on tv and in movies are causing ALL the trouble! And mental illness. Several of the regular commenters on this website are mentally ill and own guns. Ok. Now where do we start to see if their mental illness threatens the public safety?
If Christie runs for President in 2016 he most likely WILL be nominated, just as moderates are usually nomiated in the end, because he's the pragmatic choice, just as Mitt Romney was nominated instead of such "conservatives" as the demented Michelle Bacmann or Herman Cain or Rick Santorum. This website we are on will even IMPLORE you to go out and vote for Christie because "he is better than Hillary" -- who will surely get the nomination on her side if she chooses to run. And all of you conservative posters will fret that a "real" conservative was again not nominated but will admit to voting for Christie because "he is better than Hillary". And so it goes, like a circle you cannot break out of.
