Why Do We Need Unions?

Take away the unions and the lazy SOB's might have to put in an honest days work. Spent years in the bricklayer's union working along side of people who actually stated " You will never see the day when a contractor will make any money off of me ". That is the kind of thinking a union promotes, bite the hand that feeds you. Thanks to the union, the above type of people sometime get to keep working, while the hard worker gets laid off. American workers use to be the best in the world, always trying to increase production, but then the unions came along and said you are doing too much, if you do less they will have to hire more people, thus more jobs. Stupid, stupid and stupid!!!

Whoknows,
I've had similar experiences when I once belonged to the Teamsters. The union workers discourage anyone from working. They do delay work. Take as short a step as possible, go to the bathroom 10 times each shift and stay at least 20 minutes each trip. Find a good hiding spot any sit out the shift or snooze a bit, but don't lay down flat on your back. They can't fire you for sleeping sitting up. Teamsters also found many engenious ways to extract extra money from your paycheck. They would take an extra $10.00 from our check for flowers for 3 or 4 deceased union members each pay period. That came out of thousands of member checks. Union bosses also drove brand new Caddilacs.

Michigan has now become the 24th state to give workers the right to work without having to join a union. The event provoked more than vigorous debate. State police had to be on duty to guarantee the safety and the ability of Michigan legislators to actually go vote on the measure.

So what is the controversy all about? I agree with folks on the left about the real issue. It's not about right to work. It's about unions themselves. Why do we have them? Why do we need them? What public purpose do they serve?

There's no mystery here. A union...
