I don't understand. You began by discussing the "continuation of the "People of God"" as related to Catholicism. Others have tried to make that argument. However, then somehow you coupled that with semetic ethinicity. Are you saying Catholics are all ethnically semetic? The phrase "decendants of Abraham" is not a simple term. There are actual genetic descendants of Abraham (Jews) and there are spirtual descendants of Abraham (believing Gentiles).

We have become true heirs to the promise; as Abraham received it from God.

Heirs in Christ Our Savior. Jesus is known as the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world; since on the cross He became our Passover Lamb; as well for Jew as for Gentile.

As a Catholic, I see myself as a spiritual daughter of Abraham and his line through Isaac. I have lived in Jewish neighborhoods all of my life. We have much in common. But there is a block. They still wait for the Messiah and we Catholics have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior. Pilate could have told the priests, rabbis and Herod's followers, "NO," but being the politician that he was he capitulated to their demands.

i am not saying all catholics are ethnically semitic. all catholics, regardless of enthnicity, ARE spiritual descendants of abraham.

One of the first official acts of the newly installed Pope Francis was to reach out to the Jewish community of Rome, as his predecessor Pope Benedict had done, and he is being greeted warmly by many Jewish leaders worldwide. For most of the last 1,500 years, though, Catholic-Jewish relations have not been so warm. In fact, there was a time when the Catholic Church was rocked with a scandal: It was alleged that the Pope himself was Jewish.

But that was almost 1,000 years ago, and the first order of business is to note how well received Pope Francis has...
