Because the GOP is complicit in the facade of government - UNITED STATES CORPORATION - and the 'color of law' - NOT based upon the Constitution, the law of the land, Bill of Rights but rather on administrative processes/proceedings based upon the UCC. Justice in the united States does not exist, the legal system is a closed shop, and the "jury trial" is a mockery of the Constitutionally mandated "trial by jury" of your peers. In an ideal world, Congress would not raise the debt limit.

This would force – automatically and immediately – a balanced budget. More important, it would produce a meaningful reduction in the burden of government spending.

And contrary to hyperbole from defenders of the status quo, it doesn’t mean default since the federal government collects about ten times as much revenue as needed to pay interest on the debt.
