The Federal gov't shouldn't be in the college loan business, nor any other loan business at all. Kids who want to go to college should go to ones their parents can afford, and/or co-op (work a quarter and then go to college for a quarter, paying for the latter with their earnings). The ginormous gov't loans are mostly just driving up the already absurd costs charged by colleges to get a one hour, twice a week lecture, from incompetent, overpaid professors.

Does it make sense for the government to take taxes from the big majority of Americans who never managed to win college degrees in order to subsidize the pricey education of the fortunate few who get to attend top universities?

Why is it fair to increase burdens on stressed-out working families so the feds can reduce future interest payments on student loans for members of the elite?
