It is not a myth that republicans have been obstructionists from day one. When they decared it does not invalidate that. Your only argument against is that obama was able to get some of his legislation passed at the beginning of his term. If you look at the bills, filibusters, senate cloture motions filed then you will see a pattern emerge.

Certain quotes take on a mythical quality. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell entered that pantheon when he said, "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."
