The Monotonous Middle East

Mitt Romney was right: what sets Israel apart from their next door neighbors is CULTURE. The Israelis come in all sizes and shapes, but there are enough of them, who work hard and take chances with new ideas. That is their historic experience. Likewise, Chinese (especially those in the South and East), and their brethren in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, as well as the Japanese and Koreans (in the South, of course) have a tradition of hard work in the rice paddies, saving for a rainy day, and constantly improving their skills. So do many Indians, Not so in North Korea, where the Communist system killed the promise of a prosperous society, that was in their cultural history. And not so the Arabs, Afghans and many others in Moslem...

...And yet, Mr. Geraldo is right. "That's not the way the world sees it". Then again, the same world has seen many different things in ways that could make you cry. Worse is that whenever Israel gets close to achieving their goals in wars of self-defence, the "world" - the UN, the US, and even more the EU and even more again Egyptians and what have you - insist on a truce. Soon you will see the Hamas regrouping and rearming - list Hezballah in Lebanon. Like the late Moshe Dayan used to say: we will have to live with our rifles on our backs when we plow the land". Fortunately, the Israelis depend more and more on their own technology and arms. They have plenty of talent that can develop those even further. Mr. Brown: thanks! You nailed it.

The Initial Aftershocks

Unfortunately, the incumbent Prez also mentioned "global warming" as one of the things Americans need to fight against. Doesn't sound very good... As for becoming independent of foreign oil, he should be prodded to open all the possibilities of using US own energy sources (yes, including coal: just have to apply serious filters to the chimneys) and also open up, for Pete's sake, the pipeline from Canada.
If Alinsky has an estate, or a fund or something, they should pay good dollars to Mr. Obama. Had it not been for Obama, Salinsky would have remaiend an obscure, marginal person in history. Let us hope Obama is a one-term president. He could then try his hand at religious activities in a church of his choosing, e.g., Jeremiah Wright's. Even though it would be sad for the congregation...

Mr. Jacob, Sir! I beg to disagree. The many billions of American tax payers' money went - of course - to Mubarak's accounts, but also to a large extent to the Egyptian military and was a part of the deal struck by whatshisface from Plains - the Peace Agreement betwen Israel and Egypt. The role of the Army in Egypt in the years to come still remains to be seen, but please note that the Islamists also attacked military installations. Is Egypt an ally of the US? The answer is "We dunno". Time will show. It can always get uglier. Wouldn't be the first time.
I am very anxious to see, what the 50 Marines + assorted FBI/CIA/NSA people, who were dispatched to Lybia, come up with in the days to follow. We need to know HOW the Lybian perps got their hands on soffisticated weapons; how they inflitrated the US Embassy and Consulate; who made arrangements for the Ambassador's (blessed be his memory!) safety... Plenty! Obama promised justice. That I want to see to believe. And PLEASE stop talking about that crappy trailer of a crappy movie. Has NOTHING to do with anything.
You just keep up the good work, Ma'am! I salute you for your stamina and guts: to be exposed to this kind of insults and keep your calm. G-d Bless!
