If you don't think your school is doing a good job and you can't afford to send your child to another school, the ONLY answer is to look up the curriculum requirements for your state and spend some time YOURSELF remediating your child at home after school hours, say like during homework time. The Federal GOVERNMENT is now paying teachers to stay after hours, to help children with their HOMEWORK. What the hell is this??!!! ONE teacher with up to 15 kidsafter school helping those students who have different homework from different classes from different schools in the district and helping them study. One of the "hot shots" from our main office came to our school to explain Race to the Top, she ended by saying that we are "progressing" toward a more European style education system.
