Unions have seen their day of usefulness when employers actually did have dangerous and unfair environments for workers. Since about 1930, this has no longer been the case because employers found themselves competing for workers. Unions keep this from happening and just place a noose around the neck of the employer until it eventually strangles to death! This trend will continue with every business/employer that unions have their hooks into, even the "public" unions which we the people have no say in. Time for them to all be abolished and bring back free markets to allow businesses survive or die naturally based on supply and demand.

Michigan voters went to the polls last month to consider six initiatives. The measures had been placed on statewide ballot by private citizens. They had organized and gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures from fellow Michigan citizens, all to earn an up-or-down vote on their respective issues.

All six measures went down to decisive defeat at the polls.

Deservedly so — with the exception of Proposal 5, which would have required a vote of the people or a two-thirds legislative vote in order to raise state taxes. I...
