A Thoughtful Look at the Marijuana Legalization Trend

I know there are a lot of misconceptions regarding marijuana, but i didn't think someone would cover all of them in a single article and try to pass it off as fact. To imply that "marijuana contains more than 400 known chemicals." And that "It has 50% to 70% more cancer-causing substances than tobacco." Is such an absurd statement, and completely based on heresy. Any time marijuana contains an assortment of chemicals, it has be tampered with, or 'laced' with something else, as is the case with anything genetically modified. And there was a medical study conducted under the Nixon administration in the 70s, testing the use effects of marijuana on brain cancer, and it was found that it destroyed the cancer cells.

To suggest that it is more carcinogenic than cigarettes is absolutely ridiculous.
The truth of the matter is, 'weed' has far more applications than any other substance, other than the ingestion thereof. And the real issues is the Federal Governments overstepping of it's true boundaries, by declaring a 'war on drugs', which has done nothing but organize the criminal distribution thereof, and side step the 10th amendment.

If the fed gov didn't have ulterior motives, why is HEMP still illegal? The "reefer madness" lies RA spouts here only convice the low information types, usually older then dirt.

Well and that's a big part of it, HEMP has many applicable uses, all of which would be both beneficial, and less toxic for our economy and environment. But when you've monopolized the system, you can't have that.

paper is a HUGE one, and IF the EPA were interested in a healthy environment (instead of Fascist style control), they would promote hemp to replace wood for paper. Hemp paper is FAR better for printers (less dust), and produces about 2% of the deadly pollutants (dioxin) wood pulp paper making does. Hemp for paper can be watered with ca-ca water, fed with human waste, who cares we don't eat it.

I think you mean hear say not heresy. Heresy is a religious term, like blasphemy.
VickyD4Liberty Wrote: Jan 16, 2013 1:10 PM
Heresy- a. A controversial or unorthodox opinion or doctrine, as in politics, philosophy, or science.
That's just one of the definitions from the online dictionary. The other refers to Religion, thanks for the thought though.

Society is gradually becoming more liberal – or libertine – in many ways, and one of the latest trends is the gradual legalization of marijuana in one state after another. This past election, voters approved marijuana for legal (recreational) use in Colorado and Washington. Marijuana has been legalized for recreational or medicinal use in 13 states, with more states to consider it soon. 15 million Americans are regular users of marijuana, a little over 5% of of the population. It seems problematic to criticize its legalization from a logical perspective considering alcohol, another psychoactive substance, is legal. If it is acceptable...
