So how do we get people to stop being entranced by the shiny beads and rattles offered by the left and the right? With all due respect I don't know which is worse; kumbaya and the improbable ivory tower dreams of the dreadfully mediocre on the left, or the corporate agenda of a zero privacy database driven police state, and return to the days of the workhouse sans work or a house for the general population on the right. The people are no different than they have ever been; human beings have not changed their basic nature. The question is why are there so many ways to distract and divide, and what do we do about it?

If memory serves, the prime administration objection to WikiLeaks and CableGate was that our ability to negotiate with other countries would be undermined because no-one would trust us. To true, that, but who would have expected that the rat would be our own President?

OK, that sounds about right, in fact more than about right, I'd have to say dead on. The thing is though that you should include the "right way" of doing things as an alternative to what was done.

You caused a run on this book, I believe. Amazon is sold out and used copies are going for roughly double the new price :-)

Well Mike, if ever there were a worthy cause, I think you've found it. The guy is committed to what he believes in and is no slouch to be sure. It's painful, though, to hear him bob and weave rhetorically, with respect to his former life. If only there were a way to get this guy turned in the right direction and convince him once and for all that the cow poop on the other side of the fence is in no way less smelly than the cow poop on his own side... it only seems that way by virtue of proximity :-D

I'm not sure why it is that so much "thought" is not thought at all but is instead knee jerk reaction. We need to think more and react less. Time to name and shame reactionary behavior, Mr. Sowell has shown us the way :-)
