There is some truth to the idea that we only care about ourselves. The interesting thing is that collectivism claims to encourage us to think of others yet yields the greatest number of people who care only for themselves. Freedom makes no claim to care about others yet yields great cooperation and caring for others... I wonder why? My conclusion coercion always fails but persuasion always wins.

The kleptocrat "collectivists" want the productive class to be "selfless" and "generous" because it would make them more docile & easier to milk. I.e. the productive need to be made into the 'new socialist man.'

They don't demand selflessness of their gimme dependent clients they cultivate to vote for them, & they SURE as heck have no pretense of being "unselfish" and disinterested in acquiring & enjoying wealth (confiscated from others) themselves!
