Back a few months ago, public tv had a program on families affected by the GM shutdown in WI. One black family with both parents working for GM spoke out about how their lives were affected. The black mother explained to her children that republicans want people to pull themselves up by their bootstrap and work out their own problems. Her child didn't understand bootstraps. The mother explained that many families could not help themselves and admonished republicans has being heartless. This is the challenge.
