Here's a radical idea. Public "servants" voted into their positions of power don't get a salary or benefits for their time spent in Washington. Not even the president. Watch them fly home to continue their private careers and minimize away time. The nation prospers.

Who Owns You? Dems or Unions?

The pension has become a completely obsolete and bankrupt retirement plan ever since companies stopped growing 5 to 10 percent every year during the boom years last mid-century and lifespans have grown by decades since, only causing greater strain on "the money that isn't there." At the same time, public and private unions must be reigned in. For all their political power, that sword deserves an equal and opposite double edge of SEC laws regulating their finances and how they must act during bankruptcy, especially if their special deals were the deciding factor in that bankruptcy. End pensions forever. Define limits, not unending promises of cash that wasn't saved adequately.

I am calling for 1 presidential term of 6 years. That way, we are spared from silly season a little bit longer, and the president can focus on his job the entire time rather than campaign from his teleprompter 2 years into his first term which just delays any real leadership or work from getting done. Then at the end of the 6 year term, everyone is sick of him/her and votes in fresh blood. Problem solved.

I blame social media for over-exposing us to 25/8 (oh look my digits inflated while writing) negativity and bile about the enemies of whoever is speaking at the moment. We have people like Martin Basheer and Ed Shultz using the most vile and slanderous comments about people just because of their political affiliation. We can't - as a society - let irresponsible media types get away with crass, slanderous, and baseless insults which wouldn't have been conceivable on any normal day if this were 1995. Why is it okay now? Somehow I think we'll never be rid of yellow journalism.
...because they don't hold the same world view that I do. Sorry, I didn't see a period on the end of your sentence, so I thought I'd add some punctuation.
God almighty! Why am I not surprised to see you are the first one posting:? And what's this? Irrelevant, off-topic ranting that has nothing to do with the argument? Well why didn't you say you just wanted to distract readers from any actual criticism of the President? I hope they pay you well for your job canvassing this site with your bilge in the comments section. I'm sure your Huff-Po friends are proud of you. It doesn't matter who's right or wrong. Only that your side silences dissent. Which reminds me, I thought you folks called dissent courageous when speaking against the wrongful Iraq War? Huh....
God, what is this? The 100th comment in the same article paste-bombing irrelevant rants about leaders that are no longer in power nor can do any more harm. Why doesn't this site have moderation? I'm sick of these white-noise idiots.
Well shoot, I've got 6 months to live :(
This is a mutation of voter fraud. I see the same 5 to 10 libs paste-bombing the comments section so the actual discussion gets suppressed. I bet Binder voted for scores of dead registered voters this past election to distract from his guilt.
Author stated her facts. You didn't. The implications in this article - if proven correct - mean our country's most fundamental instrument is in peril and the people in charge are stealing elections.
