Yes, the cost of winning the Cold War was enormous. Also there was Tip O'Neil plotting much mischief like the Boston Big Dig!
I recall back in the 1950's and early 60's, high earners would stop working before their income exceeded $100,000 and they would be pushed into the 90% bracket. Ted Williams gave part of his salary back, saying he had a bad year but the real reason was to stay out of the 90% gouging. Jockeys like Eddie Arcaro stopped riding around Labor Day. We were lucky to get the in many ways conservative JFK to change that madness!

The NFL owners will likely tire of all this and force Mr Snyder to relent. You might as well be thinking of a new name. Then the PC police will be on to their next victim.
The University of Massachusetts changed their name from the Red Men to the Minutemen. Now the PC pointy headed police want to change it again because it is a white man with a gun. If it is changed, they will not be satisfied.
Pointy headed liberals like Hayes, Nadler and Obama feel the Constitution is flawed and should be discarded because it was written by white men who owned slaves and lived 224 years ago. Because they have an inherent dislike of America, they prefer one like the crime capitol of the world, South Africa.

Perhaps some sort of non-removable homing device could be surgically implanted into their bodies as we do with our pets! Daily we put up with the piffle of Obama and the pointy-headed liberals.

Knowing that Romney carried the 30+ vote by 1.8 million and Obama carried the under 30 vote by 5 million, we need to be working on ways to appeal to younger people. All these other issues will balance out if we do!

You need to put salt in the water first or the lobster will drown. Then keep the water cold.

There really is no hope for the GOP nationwide. if we cater to the groups that support Obama, we will have splinter third parties that peel off. The only hope short term is to continue to control the House. Long term as bankrupt states like California, Illinois and New York require federal bail outs, states with their financial houses in order will refuse and secede.
