Try a Nissan Leaf. Try trading in a Prius with an exhausted battery.
While the emphasis in this explanation is on the liberal mind -- such as it is -- as the SOURCE of liberal-caused problems, I think this explanation is backwards. I think the liberal dreams up all these excuses because he/she WANTS government to be big and intrusive and powerful enough to force everyone to follow the busybody liberal lifestyle, like it or not. This is because they think the more people involved in liberal hedonism, the more it will be accepted, and they won't be criticized for their horrible lifestyles. It's the "misery loves company" syndrome. There is actually no pity or sorrow for the misfortunes of others; these are mere excuses for power.
Thus, the attempt to sell the internet to global forces, whose interests will surely not coincide with those of American citizens.
Who cares, if they're both complicit? Get rid of both.
Depends on the law. If a law is obviously against the nation, like the ludicrously-named Affordable Care Act, then "flouting" or refusing to obey IS an act of patriotism. Allowing yourself to be bullied by such blatant profiteers as the Reids is hardly patriotic; it's not even sensible by civilized standards.

You may hold Republicans as responsible as Democrats, and probably nearly as responsible as liberals, but Conservatives? There is no Conservative Party in government, and thus conservatives had had little or no voice in the expansion of government. You might as well blame the citizenry for the shenanigans of Harry Reid, just because they live in the same country.

Totalitarianism is the revenge of failure, fueled by the envy of the untalented.

The so-called Vicar of Christ is rapidly becoming the Vicar of Satan. Does he know nothing of the history of communism against Christians? His illustriousness is diminishing at the speed of light.
"To be somewhat optimistic, it’s worth noting that governments will do the right thing when there’s no other alternative." Don't count on it. Governments always manage to find an alternative that benefits them at the cost of their people. They'll go into exile before they'll try creative capitalism, or anything that looks like liberty.
"if you like your property, your virginity, or your life, you can't keep it!" This is a fresh field for attorneys. If you are allowed to defend yourself, then miscreants -- or their surviving relatives -- can't go to court and get paid for frivolous lawsuits against people defending themselves. They are setting us up for lawsuits the same way they did against lead paint, cigarettes, and asbestos.
