Here is the real deal. Elect ever and any Rpeublican you can in November. Once all the levers of government are controlled, then go after all the Rhinos you can in the mid terms. It is better to vote for someone you agree with 50% of the time than let someone win that you only agree with 20% of the time. We need to roll back 60+ years of Socialism, but it isn't going to happen over night. Be patient and be persistent and no more compromise. We can make it happen.

I am sorry. As a non-practicing Catholic, I have no sympathy for the bishops and Catholic insititutions. The problem with the "youth" vote will never be fixed. You have to be 21 to buy tobacco products, or booze or a gun. You only have to be 18 to vote. Which is more important? If you don't have enough good judgement to act responsiblity with guns, booze or cigerettes why would anyone thing you could vote responsiblity? The change, years ago, to drop the voting age was designed to create more mindless votes for the Democrats. I hope they get the shaft royally. Rumsfelt was the classic "my way or the highway" guy. Just look what happened to Gen Shinsecki (sp?). He got fired as the Army Chief of Staff for giving a honest opinion about what it would take to secure Iraq. Rumsfelt is directly responsible for most of the hundreds of soldiers and Marines who died because of his failure to allow the military to built and execute a sound plan.

The real problem with our effort in Iraq started at the very beginning. The Army was prevented from planning and resourcing a military occupational government similiar to what was done in Germany after WWII. Donald Rumsfelt was adament about not doing this. We should have disbanded the Rebublican Guard and kept the regular Iraqi Army and civilain police on the job. We could have cleaned these organizations up over time. Instead we created thousands of potential insurgents. The planning for after the initial victory was not allowed to happen...thanks to Rumsfelt.
