It is more scary than just Common core. The same folk who are developing CC are also developing the standardized tests. So if you are not teaching CC at some point in time those kids will not do well on the standardized tests, so even home schoolers will be forced to make a choise. This will impact on who gets into college, etc. Some comments here make it seem like some States have been fooled or bribed (by more Federal $$). I don't beleive it. State boards of education are cut from the same cloth as those developing CC no matter what State they are from.

A little over 100 years ago all drugs were legal. Then the prohibitionist attitude set in. Look how well that worked with alcohol. Tax the stuff like tobacco and booze. The war on drugs is a farce and causes more harm than good. Take half the money spent on the war and put it into rehabilitation and the other half into border security, which will be easier once the drug trafficing dries up. You will never be able to stop drug use, just like it is impossible to stop tobacco or alcohol use. We need fewer laws not more, more freedom not less. Let people make their own choices...and live with it.

How about equal treatment under the law? Flat tax is the only way to go. No exemptions for anything, all income is treated the same. Anyone who has income files seperately, with the first $10,000 exempt. Send in 10-15% of the rest. Once passed, require a 75% vote to change. Force the government to be neutral as it should be. People should be making decisions on their personal situation and not the tax code. Never going to happen as it prevents politicians from playing God.

All it does is give the drug cartels a tremendous boost. Release all the prisoners who have been convicted of using. Use the money saved on rehabilition programs. Insitiute mandatory blood tests for anyone suspected of driving under the influence. This will put the cartels out of the drug business just like it took organized crime out of the booze business. Once the novelty wears off, it will beno big deal. Remember that all this stuff used to be legal.

As far as the draft goes, we would not have won the Civil War or WWII without it. There are situations when there will not be enough volunteers to get the job done. One day when we finally have to deal with Iran, it will take a general mobilization to provide enough ground troops go in, find every site and destroy them. Our current Army and Marine Corps could also not handle another Korean war without calling every National Guard division. We should actually be like Israel or Switzerland and have a universal draft for all men and women. The Armed Forces get what they need and the rest go into community service for two years.
