Take this for what it is - there can be no doubt that since the advent of politically correct thinking about suicide, there has been an increase of suicides, especially in the military. Mr. Prager rightly has condemned this politically correct trend. It has now gotten to the point that when there is a report of the suicide of an active duty soldier, the comments that accompany the suicide take the attitude that "the soldier had no alternative but to commit the act". This is now an accepted answer by "authorities". It took a great deal of courage for Prager to write this column, going against the politically correct interpretation now in vogue.
On his army blog of January 19, the commanding general of Fort Bliss (Texas), Major General Dana Pittard, wrote regarding members of the military who commit suicide:

"I have now come to the conclusion that suicide is an absolutely selfish act. I am personally fed up with soldiers who are choosing to take their own lives so that others can clean up their mess. Be an adult, act like an adult and deal with your real-life problems like the rest of us."
