this country has had waves of immigrants from northern europe, western europe, eastern europe, southern europe, russia , asia and the middle east. unless they arrived here wealthy they had to jostle their way into american society. there are many books on the subject. but it was possible for an irish or korean worker in a poultry plant to have a son attending medical school at johns hopkins. these people worked their way up and in, so that now a name like grimaldi or o'leary is no hold-back. the lithuanians and lebonese have long since moved from their ghettos and now live in ranch houses or split levels on quiet streets. there has been a very limited similar movement by the blacks, and it appears the hispanics are also stuck.

The biggest story of the past election was how President Obama’s team was able to get his interest groups to the polls and how correspondingly the Republicans feel behind on certain interest groups. It is clear Republican failed to capture the votes of Hispanics, Asians and other groups. So let’s take a look at where they are and what they need to do.
