I must take issue with Cal Thomas on one point: the artwork owned by the Vatican is the patrimony of all of Western civilization. It was created for the enjoyment of all, to elevate and enlighten. What would happen if these treasures of the ages were sold? It is quite likely that they would go into private collections, never again to be seen by the public.
